Tintean Housing Association Limited is a leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing safe, supportive accommodation and comprehensive services to women and families experiencing homelessness in Waterford City and County, Ireland. Since our establishment in June 1999 as a pilot project, we have been committed to empowering individuals to transition from homelessness to sustainable, independent living.
Our mission at Tintean Housing Association is to provide safe and supportive accommodation with comprehensive services to women and families experiencing homelessness in Waterford. We are dedicated to empowering individuals to move from homelessness to independent living. We achieve this through a philosophy that champions respect, dignity, partnership, and empowerment, ensuring a non-judgmental and understanding approach to support every step of the way.
Our vision is a future where no woman or family in Waterford experiences homelessness. We envision a community where everyone has access to safe, stable, and supportive housing, enabling them to thrive independently. Through our dedicated services, we strive to build a society where individuals are empowered to overcome challenges, achieve their full potential, and live with dignity and security.
Tintean Housing Association Limited provides a comprehensive range of programs and services designed to support women and families on their journey from homelessness to independent living. Our multi-faceted approach ensures that individuals receive not only safe accommodation but also the tailored support they need to rebuild their lives.
Transitional Accommodation with 24/7 Support: We offer safe, supported accommodation for single homeless women aged 18 and over. This program includes 24-hour on-site assistance, providing a secure environment where individuals can address complex issues such as mental health challenges, disabilities, addiction, domestic violence, and family problems.
Emergency Accommodation for Families: We provide immediate, short-term emergency housing and support for families with children experiencing homelessness. Our family units offer a welcoming, warm, safe, and secure environment, and we work in partnership with Waterford City & County Council to help families source longer-term, secure housing.
Second Stage and Long-Term Housing: Beyond immediate and transitional needs, we offer second-stage accommodation and long-term housing options for both single women and families. These placements come with ongoing visiting support, ensuring stability and preventing re-entry into homelessness.
Comprehensive Support and Case Management: Our dedicated project workers provide non-directive support and advocacy. We employ a Care & Case Management approach, coordinating a "wraparound" service with various external agencies. This includes:
Facilitating access to addiction, mental health, and disability services.
Providing personal development programs, life skills training, and workshops on nutrition, health, and well-being.
Offering client accompaniment to help resolve legal matters and access necessary appointments.
Conducting regular home visits and key work sessions in line with Housing First principles, focusing on individual goals and early intervention.
Pathway to Independent Living: We work collaboratively with our service users to develop skills necessary for independent living, including pre-tenancy training and support for accessing education, training, and employment opportunities.
Our commitment is to address the underlying issues contributing to homelessness, offering a holistic framework that empowers individuals to achieve lasting independence and well-being.
